Paris – Brussels, 21 January 2014
Just a few months before the European elections, Brussels will host the next seminar of the “40 UNDER 40” – European Young Leaders programme, organized by EuropaNova and Friends of Europe, between 30th January and 1st February 2014. During the seminar, the 40 European Young Leaders of the 2014 selection will meet with decision-makers and experts to discuss the European project and reflect upon the future of the continent in order to propose a new European “software”.
During the sessions, the topics will range from the imminent “renewal” of the European institutions in 2014, the political challenges of the European elections, the Hungarian political situation, the new Banking Union, cybersecurity, shale gas and the grassroots movements among others.
The 2014 selection is made up of individuals coming from 20 European countries, with a wide array of backgrounds and achievements in politics, business, arts and culture, academia and the media, such as:

- Danae Bezantakou, Director, Navigator Shipping Ltd. and Greek Food Obsession, Greece
- Soulaima Gourani, Keynote speaker, author and advisor, Denmark
- Guillaume Liegey, Co-founder, Liegey Muller Pons, France
- Antonia Meszaros, Journalist, Hungary
- Michal Szczerba, Member of the Polish Sejm
- Ivana Sendecka, Founder, Next Generation Leaders of Slovakia, Slovakia

The “40 UNDER 40” – European Young Leaders Programme
The “40 UNDER 40” – European Young Leaders programme, co-organised by the think-tanks EuropaNova and Friends of Europe, promotes a European identity by engaging 40 of the European Union’s brightest minds in initiatives that will shape our common future. The programme was launched in 2011, with the support of the European Commission, and contributes to forging a new European leadership through the Young Leaders’ capacity to inspire people. The aim is to develop a dynamic community of European leaders, sharing knowledge and good practice in order to foster cooperation between all Europeans.
